The Dallas Public Library’s annual prom wear giveaway is held in the month of March.
Dallas high school students will have the opportunity to choose the ideal gown or formal wear. There will be a large selection of gowns In different sizes and styles.
This event is titled “Fairy Tale Closet”, it will be open each Sunday this month. They will also give shoes and other accessories. This event is open to high-school girls and boys, there will be a few suites available for some students. The purpose of the prom is to give students the chance to improve their social skills. Somehow that always gets overlooked.
An average prom dress cost around $150 to $300, some families cannot afford to purchase a prom dress, to be worn for only one night. Prom night is an event where high school juniors and seniors dress in formal wear and partake in activities surrounding a dance.
Every year, businesses, organizations, and individuals give generously toward this effort. Communications & Youth Services Administrator Melissa Dease said:” our volunteers are making it possible for us to give away more prom dresses this year.”

The Fairy Tale Closet started in 2014, they receive donations from individuals, businesses and organizations, such as bridesmaids shops, Neiman Marcus, Sam Moon, women’s groups and other public libraries. The dress code for the prom is usually formal wear. This means that girls wear a formal style gown, and boys ware in a suit or tuxedo.
The word prom is short for promenade, which consists of the formal, opening displaying of guests at a party. The prom can be traced back to the 19th century, where universities held for each year’s graduating class
The color of your prom dress should compliment your skin tone. For example, if you have light skin you will look good wearing darker colors, and if you have dark skin you should wear brighter colors. In any case, you want to choose a color to compliment your skin complexion undertones
Prom is a dance party of high school students. It may be formal or semi-formal where the girl can wear any dress and boys can wear any suite. This event can be for 12th graders or 11th graders and/or it can be combined with 11th and 12th-grade students at the same time.
The American prom is believed to have been inspired by the debutante ball, which takes place in many other parts of the world.
